Belstaff, what is there not to love…

Posted in Features, News on October 10th, 2011 by admin – Be the first to comment

Each season we wait with anticipation for all the new Belstaff jackets, coats, boots & accessories to arrive. Belstaff is extremely wearable and a lasting investment for anybody looking to buy a fabulous waterproof jacket, leather jacket or a classic pair of leather boots. Originally from Stoke-on-Trent and underthreat of closing down, happily for all of us Belstaff was bought by motorcycle enthusiast Franco Malenotti who moved the entire operation to Italy!

With of an injection of Italian style we now have the amazing Belstaff collection as we now know it. This season the Belstaff Trialmaster Lady Boots are the boots which seem to be the most coveted in store and with our customers, whether you go for black, black brown or brown you are sure to be getting a wonderful classic pair of boots that you will have in your wardrobe for a very long time.

For those preferring a shorter boot, then you can go no wrong with the Belstaff Barkmaster Lady Boot or the adored Belstaff Roadmaster Boots in the deliciously titled colour ‘burnt brown’ which conjures up crisp autumn leaves… and toffee apples..no? Just me then…

To team with these amazing boots we have the fabulous Belstaff ‘Messenger’ Bags which are a definite hit here in store at Young Ideas. They can be worn as a shoulder bag but with huge hints in the title, they are best worn across the body.

The selection of Belstaff jackets we have in stock will no doubt have you pondering over which to choose? We feel that once you have considered your fabric of choice, you will have no problem selecting your favourite jacket.

For those wanting a ‘classic’ Belstaff Jacket, then look no further than the Belstaff Cat Leather Jacket with its quilted padding and studded pocket detail…Belstaff at its best. If you prefer less quilting then check out the Belstaff Expy Jacket, again a popular choice.

For a lighter style with less pocket detail and a true collar then don’t miss the Belstaff Classic Leather Jacket which is becoming a popular jacket for customers who prefer a shorter style.

Full on leather not for you? No worries, choose our much loved Belstaff Foxhall Jacket which is made from the traditional wax fabric & distressed leather panels. The shearling collar will definitely keep you warm this winter.

Moving away from leather completely, get your hands on the Belstaff Sammy Miller Jacket or Bradford Jacket. Both are waxed fabric and completely waterproof. The ‘Sammy Miller’ is a true Belstaff original…that I am hoping makes my santa list!

Whatever Belstaff Jacket or pair of boots you are hoping to get, you can rest assured that you are certain to be purchasing a true investment piece.
And if you would like a little bit of Belstaff, that would perhaps not stretch the budget quite as much then don’t miss the gorgeous bags, gloves and cute key fob that we have in stock today! Remember…Christmas is getting closer…

This week…. Young Ideas love all things woollen….Derby Post!

Posted in Features, News on September 21st, 2011 by admin – Be the first to comment

Once again we’ve reached that time of year where summer seems nothing but a distant memory and we’ve just about come to terms with the fact that its time to say goodbye to our summer wardrobes until next year and start making space for those winter warmers.

So, with that autumnal chill in the air, we felt it appropriate to update you on all things woollen. Knitwear is the ideal transitional piece as it’s just enough to banish that cold edge and ideal for layering.

Here at Young Ideas, we’re really excited about the Autumn/Winter collection from Don’t Label Me. The sister label of Repeat Cashmere, DTLM’s latest offering is an eclectic mix of both chunky and fine knits. Where an array of rustic colours make for the perfect cosy cover up.

Another big trend we’re giving the thumbs up to is the Fairisle knit. Both Paul Smith and 360 Sweater have included the print in their collections and it was all over the catwalk at Burberry Prorsum. If you’re not quite brave enough to wear the print all over (go on we dare you) why not treat yourself, or a loved one (they make ideal Christmas gifts), to something from the Paul Smith Accessories range. We’ve come over all nostalgic!

Making a re-appearance on the catwalk this season was the poncho. Yes, we all remember the infamous Ugly Betty episode where Betty dared to show up for her first day of work at Mode (the fictional equivalent of Vogue) in that disastrous poncho. However, this is a trend designers were very much keen to channel for Autumn/Winter 2011, including both Alexander Wang and Rag and Bone. The poncho is a micro trend we’ve seen come around a few times although we finally feel it’s become everything we want our outerwear to be, both chic and effortlessly stylish. We’re labelling it this year’s cape. Best of all it’s easy to wear and leaves your arms free to laden with more purchases from Young Ideas. Hoorah!

On a final note, next month notes the celebration of International Wool Week (3rd-10th October). This is a campaign firmly backed by Prince Charles, which aims to promote and recognise the global wool industry. So show your support and buy your Autumn/Winter knitwear from Young Ideas, because if Charles is on board this must mean Kate is too, right?

The Mini Clutch…have you got yours?

Posted in Features, News on September 13th, 2011 by admin – Be the first to comment

If there is one thing you are going to wish you had tucked away in your closet this autumn/winter, it’s the mini clutch!

Seeing the new DVF clutches coming through our doors at Young Ideas has given us even more of an excuse for cocktails with the girls!

It’s all about texture this winter and it’s been named ‘the year of the snake’, with python and fur being all over the runway and all over our favourite celebs!
If you are wanting a staple piece this season then our Dries Van  Noten fur and patent leather clutch is the one for you.

If glamour and sparkle are more your thing then try our stunning silver Paul Smith clutch with python strap and gold clasp. You can’t go wrong with snake skin this season as we saw on the catwalks of Chloe and Giorgio Armani this fall.

If you are looking for something a little more subtle and classic, and something to carry you through a season or two then our new DVF mini clutches are the perfect choice! 1920’s box style bags with dramatic clasps and a shimmer of gold will give you that red carpet look in seconds!

We’ve seen them on the likes of Hollywood favourites Kim Kardashian and Kelly Rowland and now it’s our turn! The little round ‘Lytton Metallic’ clutch shows a shimmery subtle scale texture, and the rectangular ‘Tonda’ number shows a contrast of gold and black coin size spots, two of the hottest colours this A/W11.

Both have removable gold chain straps for a more casual look, so tuck it under your arm or hang it off your shoulder, either way you will be a showstopper!

Now which will be yours?

Our Wish Lists for Autumn Winter 2011/2012 – THE COAT

Posted in Features, News, Uncategorized on July 29th, 2011 by admin – Be the first to comment
Burberry London Classic Trench Coat

Burberry London Trench Coat...has it made your 'wish list'?

It is fair to say that the team at Young Ideas have been very interested in what we have seen arriving in store for the coming season. Personally I absolutely adore autumn winter clothing having spent many years in hotter climates, but it seems I am not alone.

Both Ashbourne & Derby teams both agreed that an investment winter coat would be first on our list. BUT…the length of the coat appeared to be up for discussion, do we go for a longer Burberry Trench Coat or a shorter classic one. We are all quite keen on the Burberry Funnel neck coat, whilst still remaining a trench coat, it is we find slightly sleeker and perhaps warmer? How can we forget last year’s snow debacle! Length still undecided we move on.

Although we are staunch supporters of Burberry London Coats… I for one am pondering the absolutely delicious Weekend By MaxMara Parker style Coat. Would it be more functional? Very much on trend and practical as well…it’s a tough decision. We are also attracted to the MaxMara Tailored Coat which has a military feel to it, but we had better make our minds up on that one as there has been a lot of interest. If you were thinking of something a little bit different, then we all agreed that the MaxMara Reversible Cape is a contender, one staff member has already purchased! (How dare she?!)

Just as I think we are reaching a decision, along comes the Armani Collezioni Cardigan Coat…wow. This is a luxurious coat that the term ‘wish list’ has been invented for.

The question remains…which coat will feature on your ‘Wish List’? The decision is yours…enjoy.

2011 marks the 100th year since Titanic was built

Posted in Features, News on June 1st, 2011 by admin – Be the first to comment

Royal Crown Derby produced the first class voyagers’ dinner service that was used on the Titanic, so as 2011 marks the 100th year since the Titanic was built we have decided to give a nod to the era of that tragic voyage. Exquisite and with an air of first class elegance we channelled our Kate Winslet thoughts and found ourselves charmed by our D & G Dolce and Gabbana tiered black floor length dress.

Our hearts will go on at Young Ideas…
